Trainee/Junior BMS Controls Engineer – Join a Industry-Focused Team

Location: Lutterworth, Leicestershire – Primarily field-based with office support in Lutterworth | Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £23,810 – £38,000 per annum + Annual Bonus  | Company Car | Laptop | Phone | Pension | Training Provided

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Trainee or Junior BMS Controls Engineer to join our established team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an electrical background and an interest in smart building technology to build a rewarding career in the BMS industry.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across both projects and service workstreams, and full in-house, manufacturer, and industry-standard training will be provided. Apprenticeship schemes are also available for the right candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working alongside senior engineers on BMS installations, service visits, and commissioning
  • Learning to program and support BMS systems including Trend, Tridium, Honeywell, and Schneider
  • Assisting with producing technical documentation, site reports, and system schematics
  • Gaining exposure to energy monitoring, remote diagnostics, and smart controls integration
  • Supporting a mix of project delivery and ongoing service contracts

Skills & Experience Required

  • City & Guilds 2391, 18th Edition, or equivalent electrical qualification
  • Valid UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • 1 year of electrical engineering experience (preferred)
  • IT literate and able to write clear, concise reports
  • A positive, flexible, and customer-focused attitude
  • Basic HVAC knowledge is advantageous but not essential
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn

The Opportunity

Due to continued expansion, we are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated BMS Controls Engineer (Ideally Tridium Biased) to join our established team at Building Controls Specialists Ltd (BCS). This role offers the chance to work across a variety of dynamic and technically advanced projects—from large-scale installations to service-based assignments—delivering a well-rounded and rewarding engineering experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Programming and commissioning BMS systems (with a focus on Tridium and Trend)
  • Producing software, creating BMS graphics, and integrating control systems
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and panel drawings
  • Collaborating with clients and internal teams to deliver quality, reliable solutions
  • Supporting a wide range of BMS platforms including Schneider, Honeywell, Priva, and Distech
  • Upholding excellent customer service standards and professional communication

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience programming and commissioning Tridium and Trend systems
  • Familiarity with additional BMS platforms such as Honeywell, Priva, Distech or Schneider,
  • Strong experience in software generation and BMS graphics development
  • Proficient in reading and working from electrical and panel drawings
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems and applications
  • Good electrical knowledge and competence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • IT literate and comfortable with modern software tools
  • Customer-focused with a flexible and proactive approach
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or within a team
